Jamie Powell - Pastor
Jamie became the pastor of First Baptist West in 1999. He has served in ministry since 1983 in various ways as a youth minister, music minister, associate pastor and a pastor. Jamie became a believer and follower of Jesus at age 16 and surrendered to God's call to serve in ministry at age 17. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from OuachitaBaptistUniversity and a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Jamie is married to Traci and they have two children, Kati and Caleb. Jamie enjoys traveling, sports, military history, and spending time with his family and friends. His lifelong desire is to love, to live like, and to labor for Jesus helping as many people as possible in the world know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
Barry Cornish - Associate Pastor
Barry became the Associate Pastor at First Baptist West in 2001. His responsibilities include Education and Administration. He has served in the Education Ministry for 20 years. Barry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Cameron University in 1981 and a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1984.
Barry is married to Tammy and they have three children, John, Brian, and Grace. John and Brian both are attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas and Grace continues her education at home. Barry loves to spend time outdoors hunting and fishing with friends. His goal in life is to help the church reach the lost community through the many ministries of the local church.
Doug Snook - Minister of Music & Assimilation
Doug is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, where he studied both vocal and instrumental music. He has degrees in music education and in choral conducting. Both Doug and his wife Linda were clarinet majors at UNC, and both of them came to know the Lord through the witness of fellow students and professors there.
Doug has directed church choirs, instrumental ensembles and orchestras for over twenty years. He is a private voice teacher, a member of the VoiceCare Network as well as a member of the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma.
Linda is an accomplished musician and a clarinet teacher. She also enjoys sewing and gardening. She has been a mentor to many young women, helping them to apply God’s truths to their lives. She has been a very active volunteer with children’s church, VBS and Christian arts camps for children and youth. She loves to study and memorize scripture.
Doug and Linda have two grown sons, Will and Matt, a daughter-in-law Emily and a grandson Coen.
Mike Lewis - Youth Pastor
Mike became youth minister at First Baptist West in May of 2001. Mike has served as a youth minister at various churches for the last 14 years. He is also currently employed as a teacher and coach at Eisenhower High School. He has an undergraduate degree from Cameron University and a Masters of Education with a youth concentration from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
Mike's goals are to reach students for Christ and give them opportunties to grow in Christ through Bible study and service opportunities. Other goals include giving the adult youth leaders and parents of First Baptist West a place to grow and serve as they reach out to the youth in Lawton.
Mike is married to Jeni and they have been married for 10 years. They have two children, Braeden 5 and Lauren who is 3. His hobbies include playing tennis with his high school players and going to OU football games during the fall.

Linda Whitworth - Secretary
Linda has been a secretary at First Baptist West since January 2001. Her husband Trevor is retired military and presently works for ManTech Defense Systems at Fort Sill. She has two sons, Cory and Adam. Cory lives in Moore, OK. Adam is a student at the University of Oklahoma and works for the OU football team. She and her family have been members of First Baptist West since June 1991.
Shelly Herrera - Secretary
Shelly has been serving as one of the church secretaries since November 2003. She previously was the secretary for Red River Behavioral Health as well as for the American Red Cross in Germany. She has been a member of FBW since 1978.
Shelly has been married to Robert for 14 years and has two children, Jesse,12 and Victoria, 11. Robert is a police officer at Ft Sill but is currently active in the National Gurad soon to be deployed to Iraq. Shelly serves as a Sunday school teacher in the Youth Department & is very involved in Wednesday Night activities. She is also involved in women's events at the church as well as her children's sports & school functions.
